Meet Pango
The armored guardian on a quest to protect the world's AI systems
Every great mission needs a great guardian. Today, we're thrilled to introduce Pango—the pangolin who's dedicated his life to protecting AI systems and the humans who depend on them.
Why a Pangolin?
When we set out to find a mascot for GLACIS, we wanted something that represented what we do: provide armored protection for AI systems in a world full of threats. We didn't have to look far.
Pangolins are nature's most armored mammals. Their overlapping keratin scales form an impenetrable shield—when threatened, they curl into a tight ball that even lions can't crack. They're gentle, determined, and fiercely protective.
Natural Armor
Pangolins have scales made of keratin—the same material as human fingernails—that protect them from predators. Pango's scales represent our layers of cryptographic protection.
Global Guardians
Pangolins are found across Africa and Asia. Like GLACIS running on Cloudflare's global edge network, Pango's family protects ecosystems around the world.
Curious & Thorough
Pangolins use their long tongues to investigate every nook and cranny for their food. Pango brings that same thoroughness to inspecting AI systems.
Quietly Powerful
Pangolins don't roar or growl—they simply do their job. GLACIS works the same way: invisible protection that doesn't slow down your AI systems.
Pango's Origin Story
Pango grew up in a world where AI systems were everywhere—helping doctors diagnose patients, assisting banks in detecting fraud, and powering the apps that millions of people used every day. But he noticed something troubling.
"Everyone trusted the AI," Pango observed, "but nobody could prove it was actually doing what it promised. The guardrails were invisible. The safety checks were undocumented. And when something went wrong, there was no evidence trail."
This was the Proof Gap—the space between what AI systems claimed to do and what they could actually demonstrate. Pango knew that in regulated industries like healthcare and finance, this gap wasn't just inconvenient. It was dangerous.
So Pango set out on a quest: to give every AI system the armor it needed. Not just protection from attacks, but proof—cryptographic, tamper-evident proof—that safety controls were actually running.
Pango's Mission
Protect AI systems with continuous attestation—proving that every guardrail executes, every time.
The Armor Pango Provides
Just like a pangolin's scales, GLACIS protection works in layers:
- Cryptographic Attestation: Every AI decision generates proof that safety controls executed—signed, timestamped, and tamper-evident.
- Real-Time Monitoring: Pango never sleeps. He watches every inference, ready to flag anomalies before they become incidents.
- Audit-Ready Evidence: When regulators come knocking, Pango has the receipts—complete evidence packages that prove compliance.
- Global Edge Protection: Running on 300+ Cloudflare locations worldwide, Pango is always nearby, adding less than 50ms to any AI call.
A Guardian for Endangered Systems
There's another reason we chose the pangolin. These gentle creatures are the world's most trafficked mammals, hunted for their scales despite being protected by international law. They need guardians too.
We see a parallel in AI systems. As AI becomes more powerful, it becomes a bigger target—for misuse, for regulatory action, for reputational damage. The systems that help patients and protect consumers need guardians who can prove they're operating safely.
Join Pango's Quest
Pango can't protect every AI system alone. He needs partners—AI teams who believe that trust should be earned with evidence, not just claims. Healthcare vendors who want to prove HIPAA compliance at runtime. Financial services firms that need audit trails for every model decision.
If you're building AI that matters, Pango wants to help you protect it.
